AN HISTORIC MUSCLE CAR!
1969 Shelby GT500
This rare documented museum quality GT500 is one of only nineteen 4-speeds painted Grabber Blue in 1969, Carroll Shelby’s favorite color. This ranks it among the most collectible classic muscle cars on the planet and an irreplaceable piece of automotive history.
The 1969 Shelby was designed with several features that set it apart from GT500s produced in earlier years including side stripes relocated midway up the body side and an increased body length of 4 inches. Famous in 1969 for its unique five-scoop hood configuration, this car was special ordered with all the right options, 428 Cobra Jet, 4-speed close ratio manual transmission, front disc brakes, and 3.50 Traction-Lok rear axle.
The 428 Cobra Jet V-8
The 428 Cobra Jet engine made its first appearance in April of 1968 and was offered in Mustang fastbacks and coupes. It was based on the 428-cid big-car engine, but had larger valve heads and the race-brewed 427’s intake manifold. The engine was rated at 335 horsepower at 5200 rpm, but true output approached 410 horsepower.
THE ONLY MUSTANG OF ITS KIND!
2014 Shelby GT500
This one-of-a-kind GT500 incorporates several design ques from its matching 1969 Grabber Blue predecessor, including a hand built one-off aluminum hood, quarter scoops, retro stripes, modified rear window configuration to match the look of the 69, and modified body panels.
The hand built one-off aluminum hood created for this Mustang is the only one of its kind. It was custom designed to match the iconic five scoop hood configuration of the 1969 GT500.
Ford tested the new GT500, a 662 horsepower street legal racecar, at more than 200 miles per hour! Its supercharged 5.8 litre aluminum V8 leaves the competition in the dust. Six speed Tremec manual transmission, Brembo brakes, tuned adjustable suspension, and launch control, make this race-worthy GT500 an enthusiasts dream.
This one-of-a-kind Mustang was designed with several other features including RECARO front bucket seats, a soft-one piece instrument panel, navigation package, rear view camera, and a shaker audio system with HD Radio Technology.
5.8 Litre Aluminum V8
The 5.8L DOHC 4-valve Modular V8, dubbed Trinity internally by Ford, is featured in this production supercar. The Trinity is based on the 5.4L V8 used in the previous model year GT500’s, utilizing the same block geometry but receiving increased bore diameter. The PTWA cylinder lining technology first used in the 11-12 GT500 5.4 is retained in this powerplant. The 5.8 benefits from cylinder heads with improved coolant flow, Ford GT camshafts, piston-cooling oil jets, new 5-layer MLS head gaskets, a red line increased to 7000 rpm (from 6250 rpm), and a compression ratio increased to 9.0:1 (from 8.5:1). Boost is supplied by a 2.3L TVS supercharger, facilitating 662 ground-pounding horsepower!
