33,000 Original Miles Make This GTO a Keeper

400ci V-8 engine. 4-speed manual gear box. Saf-T-Track limited slip.

No doubt this GTO was born to be a street machine.

And, with barely 33,000 miles on its odometer, this ‘68 GTO convertible is barely out of its wrapper.

This GTO is 1 of 3,116 built with the 350-hp 400ci V-8 and a manual transmission out of a total production of nearly 88,000 cars. That makes GTO not only a great muscle car, but a rare one, too!

Here’s What We Know on its Low-Mile History

Pontiac built this ’68 GTO in its Baltimore, Maryland, assembly plant and shipped it to Kline Pontiac in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The GTO quickly relocated to warm and sunny Texas, which is evidenced by its original Texas plates issued in 1968.

A copy of the original window sticker shows this GTO stickered for $4,053.60 when new. Included with this GTO is a binder detailing its previous owners.

Performance is its Middle Name

As Pontiac’s top-of-the-line muscle car for 1968, the GTO came standard with many extra features such as a 350-horsepower V-8 engine, a manual transmission, a heavy-duty floor shifter and dual exhaust.

One twist of the key in the ignition fires up the 400ci/4-barrel motor, which sounds as healthy now as the day it was new. Drop that clutch, hit the gas, launch in First gear and watch the Saf-T-Track limited-slip differential light up both rear tires and launch this classic muscle car with authority.
